Donations from more than 400 supporters has helped Peace for the Streets by Kids from the Streets (PSKS) meet its original goal of raising $75,000 to keep the doors open through the end of 2012. Staff hours and operations have been fully restored effective today! Achieving this goal provides stability to build on the momentum generated from this outpouring of community support. We are continuing to seek funds to ensure we are able to provide services to our participants into 2013 and beyond.
Over the past week PSKS has been overwhelmed and amazed with the incredible generosity of our community. Our unique participatory model helped mobilized a virtual army of supporters that were previously untapped. The progress we have made in this campaign reflects the impact of our approach to empowering homeless youth and young adults.
Starting with a fundraising event organized by community members and staff last Friday, word has rapidly spread about our need. We have found, and renewed, friends, partners, allies and volunteers that are rallying their support to make sure PSKS continues to serve our participants.
